Parents and students from half a dozen charter schools across the state took part in National School Choice Week with a rally in downtown Raleigh on Tuesday. "We have proven today here at the school choice event that we can have great success in charters and in magnets and in online schools and great success in our traditional public schools". Having options may be good for families, but the Pennsylvania school boards associations raises this concern.
The state's public school open enrollment policy is one of the nation's broadest and most accommodating.
National School Choice Week is being celebrated at more than 32,000 events across the country.
"It's a personal choice, that's what it comes down to", said 36-year-old Jen Hainley, the mother of an 8-year-old second-grader at St. Gabriel Catholic School.
