Airbus is Showing Off the A350-1000 to the World Qatar Airways Confirms Delayed Launch Month
Industry sources said Airbus has invited CAL, EVA Air and Starlux to visit the test A350-1000 when it is in Taiwan.
The aircraft will also make a stop for several days in Singapore for the Singapore Airshow 2018.
Industry sources told CNA that China Airlines, one of Taiwan's two major worldwide carriers, and StarLux, a carrier being planned by former EVA Airways Chairman Chang Kuo-wei (張國煒), are the potential buyers of the new aircraft.
Airbus said the A350-1000 test aircraft is scheduled to fly in the air over Taiwan for an hour on the afternoon of February 1 before departing for Vietnam and then Singapore to take part in the Singapore Airshow 2018 from February 6 to 8. The aircraft received certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in November 2017. First stop: Doha. The stretched version of the A350-900, which Qatar Airways already operates, has a longer fuselage which can accommodate around 40 more passengers in a three-class configuration.
Commenting on the delays, Akbar Al Baker, Qatar's chief executive, noted: "Our expert delivery staff have been working in partnership with Airbus to ensure a prompt entry into service".

Airbus looks "forward to delivering the world's first A350-1000 to Qatar Airways in the coming weeks", Airbus' Chief Operating Officer Fabrice Bregier said in a press release issued by the airline. Qatar was meant to launch the aircraft late previous year but it has had to delay delivery until next month - the issue is believed to be with the state-of-the-art QSuite Business Class seat.
It has an extra 50 seats in the economy class cabin, and is equipped with more powerful and higher-thrust Trent XWB engines from manufacturer Rolls-Royce, the company said.
Other airlines that have ordered the A350-100 that serve Australia include British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Etihad Airways, Japan Airlines, LATAM Airlines Group and Asiana Airlines.
The company has said previously that the A350-1000 had 95 per cent common systems part numbers as the A350-900, as well as the same type rating. (Airbus) The flight test program for the A350-100 included the flooded runway test. (Airbus) And cold weather tests.
