AM- US service member wounded after'insider attack in Afghanistan
The incident took place in the vicinity of Achin district where an operation is underway to eliminate the loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group. The Taliban and local militia said as many as 13 fighters were killed in the air strike. An AFP reporter saw at least eight militia fighters buried on Friday morning.
Tom Gresback, a USA military spokesman in Afghanistan, told the Associated Press one US service member was wounded and in stable condition in what he would describe only as "active ground engagement".
It said 10 insurgents were killed but denied reports from local sources saying that American soldiers were among the dead.
"Captain Gresback would not say whether the service member had been wounded by friendly fire, or whether the United States had bombed the militia afterward".
Once the meeting was over, the Taliban-linked insurgents opened fire, killing the militia leader and wounding the American service member and the interpreter.
Gresback did not disclose which branch of the military the troops were from.

So-called "green-on-blue" attacks in which Afghan forces turn on their comrades or their Western counterparts have been a major problem during North Atlantic Treaty Organisation s long years in Afghanistan.
If the attack was an insider attack, it would be the most recent insider attack against USA forces. The Taliban quickly claimed credit for the attack but overstated the casualties, the USA military said.
A clash broke out between the local uprising forces and the US Special Forces in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan on Thursday, the local officials said.
Details of the incident remain unclear but a local member of parliament, Obaidullah Shinwari, said members of a pro-government militia had opened fire on USA forces, killing two Americans and an interpreter.
While Afghan security forces are conducting most of the fighting against IS and Taliban militants, USA troops operate alongside them in a training capacity and are frequently on the front lines. The three soldiers were killed during a joint U.S.
