The flaw was discovered by software developer Abraham Masri based in Chicago who shared a link which can be used to crash the app on social media. He wrote a warning to accompany his post on Twitter'Do not use it for bad stuff
The malicious code of the "text bomb" was uploaded to a webpage on GitHub, but this code has since been taken down.
A few days ago we detailed a new iOS and macOS bug that crashes Messages when you receive a specific message. In yet another case of random strings crashing iOS devices, we have a new culprit that manages to freeze iPhone. You don't even need to open it: the pressure put on the unit to render the preview shown in Messages is apparently enough to force the application to crash.
While GitHub has removed the repo from Masri's account, it has been copied by others. Masri said his intentions were good - he had alerted Apple to the bug ahead of time and said he only posted it publicly to get Apple's attention.
The flaw affects iOS versions 10.0 to 11.2.5 beta 5. That said, someone else may be able to replicate the problem in the future and upload it themselves to reinstate the attack.
This redirects the Messages app to a page stored on Github, a hosting service ford computer code, which exploits the bug.

The bug can also stop an iPhone from running iMessage, but deleting the message thread, resetting the device or blocking the site's domain should fix the issue. If Messages is in a recurring crash loop, you can try to restore your iOS device to factory settings, but this will erase all of the photos, saved data, and settings on your device.
