Australia qualified to play the Under-19 World Cup's final after defeating Afghanistan in the semi-final match held here today.

Afghanistan thrilled its fans and captured the attention of the cricket world when, by winning its three group matches, then outclassing hosts New Zealand by 202 runs in a one-sided quarter-final.

Australia entered the Super League Final after successfully chasing the target of 182 in 37.3 overs, losing just four wickets as Afghanistan were outplayed in all departments of the game.

It was wicket-keeper batsman Ikram Ali Khil, who resisted the Australian attack with a courageous 80 off 119 balls, helping his side put on board something to fight for. Only two other batsmen Nisar Wahdat (11) and Mujeeb Zadran (12*) could reach the double figures.
