Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addresses the World Economic Forum Tuesday
In his keynote speech, Justin Trudeau also said the pursuit of profit had been put before the wellbeing of workers.
The deal picked up some of the pieces of the "TPP" scrapped by President Donald J. Trump just after his election, but of course left the United States outside the agreement. "As leaders, we need to act to show that truly, time is up".
Mr. Trudeau's approach to managing the economy was praised by Ulrich Spiesshofer, president and CEO of ABB Group, the massive Swiss robotics and industrial automation firm that recently set up a new $90-million office in Montreal.
The prime minister's efforts to attract investment in Canada comes amid an uncertain future for the North American Free Trade Agreement, with the sixth round of negotiations to renew the trade pact now being held in Montreal.
Trudeau is scheduled to deliver a speech at the gathering Tuesday, during which he'll make a pitch to world leaders on the importance of gender equality and the advancement of women in the workplace.

He attended a reception hosted by former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown and Credit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam on Tuesday evening and later went to a dinner held by Chinese multibillionaire Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba Group.
Trudeau urged businesses and governments to ensure that people share in the benefit of economic growth.
