Antonio Conte blames Chelsea's Carabao Cup exit on Willian injury
English football giants Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final here.
It was hoped the 25-year-old forward would be back to full fitness in time for the cup clash against the Magpies but manager Antonio Conte has confirmed the Madrid-born star remains on the sidelines.
The forced withdrawal of Willian against Arsenal allowed Ross Barkley to make his Chelsea debut from the bench following his £15million move from Everton.
"I don't like to speak about the transfer market, the club decides our transfer market, as I said before my task is to try to improve my players", he said. "Now we are back with more clarity, we know what we have to do and we can focus on our game and so we had hard months, but we responded well".
Ozil has been Arsenal's best player this season, which Wenger sees as proof of his happiness at the club.
Conte's gripes during the previous transfer window strained the relationship between the Italian and the board, only for those issues to be put to one side once the season kicked off. "Sometimes I can have an impact on the transfer market, sometimes I don't have an impact on this".
