Oklahoma City Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony became the 21st player in National Basketball Association history to score 25,000 points in a career.
National Basketball Association commissioner Adam Silver sent out a brief note via the NBA's official Twitter account congratulating Anthony on the achievement. It was his 17th point of the game and 844th point as a member of the Thunder.
"You look at 25,000 points, that's a lot of points, and doing it on a nightly basis like he's done is really remarkable", Thunder head coach Billy Donovan told reporters prior to Saturday's game, per ESPN.com's Michael Rothstein. He put up 14 in the first half, scored on a pull-up jumper early in the third before getting to the line at the 8:30 mark. He then hit the next free throw to extend his team's lead to 81-57.

Anthony became the 21st player in National Basketball Association history to reach the mark and the 11th-fastest player to do it. Anthony is one of three active players to be ranked in the top 25 of the NBA/ABA scoring list, with the aforementioned James (seventh) and Dallas Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki (sixth) being the others.
Oklahoma City won Saturday's game 121-108 to improve to 29-20 overall and extend its winning streak to seven games.
As things stand, Anthony is less than 200 points away from passing West-who dropped 25,192 points over the course of his illustrious career.
