Officials from the Academy Awards said they appreciate Affleck's decision, allowing the attention to stay on the show and nominees.
As has become customary with the Oscars, the previous victor of Best Actor presents the following year's award to the Best Actress, however, that will not be the case this year as it's emerged that Casey Affleck will not be presenting following his win for Manchester By the Sea in 2017.
Affleck's publicist said Thursday that the actor would not be at the ceremony on March 4 where, traditionally, he would have been expected to present the award for best actress as the reigning best actor victor.

Affleck's representatives confirmed to CNN that he will not be attending this year's Academy Awards, which takes place on March 4.
Deadline reported that "the specter of Affleck presenting would have created controversy". The allegations were made in lawsuits filed against Affleck by producer Amanda White and director of photography Magdalena Gorka and were settled prior to the release of the film.

The "Manchester by the Sea" star was accused of sexual harassment by two women in 2010.
