On Monday evening, Morstead learned that donations were rolling in, and assumed they were coming from Saints fans.
The best trend of the National Football League postseason has been the outpouring of support from fans to players' charities, and Saints punter Thomas Morstead is giving back to Minnesota after Vikings fans gave to his charity.
"I didn't really think twice about it", Morstead said after the game. "I don't feel like I was sitting on some moral high ground or did something exceptional, they needed 11 guys so I went out and that was it". One Vikings fan noticed this then told fellow fans on Reddit to donate to Morstead's What You Give Will Grow foundation in light of his gutsy performance and notable display of sportsmanship. His charity is focused on pediatric cancer and boosting Child Life departments at pediatric hospitals, inspired by Morstead's close friend who battled cancer.
Morstead's experience is similar to what happened with Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, whose charity received more than $300,000 in donations from Buffalo Bills fans after he helped them earn a playoff berth by knocking out the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17. Of those donations, a $10,000 check came from Love Your Melon, a Minnesota-based organization that gives half of its profits to fight pediatric cancer.
He's said that he would turn the money that's pouring in back around to Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

"Child Life has immeasurable impacts on these kids and treats the emotional side of what they are having to deal with, hard to explain to a 3-year-old or 6-year-old why they are getting needles put in their bodies every day", said Morstead. "I've donated and shared your story and I hope my kids learned something from you".
Three days remain to donate.
Morstead said he will release details later about when the check will be presented.
Children's Minnesota was touched by Morstead's gesture when informed of the coming windfall, said Joy Johnson-Lind, senior director of child and family services. "We were just trying to get the game over and be done with it", Morstead said. That impressed Vikings fans. Morstead, in an unexpected move, returned the favor by sending donations to the Children's Minnesota Child Life division. He posted his own message of gratitude to his foundation's YouTube page.
