The NCAA is investigating Connecticut's men's basketball program for potential rules violations, the school confirmed to the New Haven Register by early Friday morning.
University President Susan Herbst, in a statement released Friday morning, says the school is committed to "a culture of compliance" and intends to fully co-operate with the investigation in a "thorough and transparent manner".
While the full nature of the inquiry is uncertain, some, if not all, involves areas of recruiting, according to two sources with knowledge of the situation.
The outlet reported that the investigation is not related to the ongoing FBI probe into bribery at college basketball programs around the country. "Until that time, we will have no further comment".

However, Hearst Connecticut Media noted, there has been "an extraordinary amount of criticism" in recent months of the Huskies' play under Ollie, who took over for the legendary Jim Calhoun. He is already on the hot seat with a less-than-impressive 72-52 record - with only one NCAA Tournament appearance - since winning the national championship in 2014.
