A Detroit police officer was said to be in critical condition after being shot Wednesday night on the city's near east side.
Craig said he's been in touch with Doss' father, who is also a Detroit officer, and his family.
Doss Sr. said he learned of his son's condition nearly immediately Wednesday from an ex-wife who is a lieutenant for EMS.
Chief James Craig said Friday morning on the WJR News Radio 760 AM's Paul W. Smith Show the department was keeping Doss in their thoughts.
