In a hit and run case reported from the North Campus area of Delhi University (DU), a 50-year-old man lost his life after he was hit by a BMW vehicle driven by a Khalsa College student, police said on Saturday. Sahni, in the red-coloured BMW, is seen in the footage speeding away after the accident. He crashes on the car's bonnet and windshield, before falling off on the road. According to the police, the incident dates back to January 10 and the accused was arrested the next day but was later released on bail. He added that accident left him scared and so he fled the spot. "He lives with his family in Punjabi Bagh", deputy commissioner of police (north), Jatin Narwal said.

Abhinav Saini has been charged under sections of rash driving and causing death due to negligence. Sahni had confessed to the crime only after intense interrogation, police said. Cops sought information about the part from manufacturers and over 500 cars of the same make was checked in Delhi-NCR. He was taken for a medical examination to check for his blood alcohol levels.
