Singer-songwriter Sampha, who won the Mercury Prize a year ago, competes with Dua Lipa and rappers J Hus, Loyle Carner and Dave in the British breakthrough act category.
The British Group category has five contenders: Gorillaz, London Grammar, Royal Blood, Wolf Alice and The xx.
J Hus also has three nominations (Common Sense for British Album, British Breakthrough and British Single for Did You See), while double nominees include Stormzy, Calvin Harris, Loyle Carner, Jonas Blue, Little Mix, Liam Payne and Clean Bandit.
British pop star Dua Lipa is coming to the UAE next month, for a one-night-only show at Yas Island's du Forum on Saturday February 24.
