Epic Games' Paragon Shutting Down

Paragon will be shutting down officially on april 26, 2018.

The price for the success of Epic Games' Fortnite is Paragon, which will shut down on April 26th.

Epic also added in their statement that "we didn't execute well enough to deliver on the promise of Paragon", but thanked the game's loyal community for "everything you've put into Paragon". Citing "careful consideration" and "many hard internal debates", Epic explained candidly that "we feel there isn't a clear path for us to grow Paragon into a MOBA that retains enough players to be sustainable".

The writing appeared to be on the wall for Paragon when representatives wrote on Reddit last week that Fortnite had absorbed many of their staff and that they'd "be figuring out if and how we can evolve Paragon to achieve growth and success".

I always had the impression that Paragon was doing well enough, but I suppose the stakes are just too high to keep something like this not only running but actively growing. Paragon adopted the same third-person perspective as SMITE, another popular MOBA, and added in verticality, a feature completely absent from any other MOBA.

Epic Games launched Paragon as an Early Access game back in March 2016 and remained cagey about a full release as they continued tinkering with the title. PC players can request a refund here, while console players will have to link their Epic accounts, or create one if necessary. This refund will come directly from Epic rather than your platform provider.

The platform for requesting a refund is outlined here. "As the player population continues to decrease, matchmaking times and quality will further degrade", says the developer.
