If Philadelphia can make the Falcons one-dimensional by bottling up Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman, it can keep this game close enough for Foles and the offense.

The Falcons had a first and goal situation with less than two minutes to go, but quarterback Matt Ryan was unable to engineer the touchdown that would have given the Falcons a 16-10 lead. They took advantage of every miscue and gave Foles chances over and over, to either score or control the clock.

It was the first home playoff victory for the Eagles in more than 11 years. That means a heavy dose of Jay Ajayi and LeGarrette Blount in the running game.

A few back and forth opportunities on punts and whatnot allowed the Eagles to get more opportunities on offense, however their scoring chances were limited as they missed out on a few plays that could have put them over the top.

Jake Elliott kicked a 21-yard field goal to extend Philadelphia's lead to 15-10 over the Falcons with 6:02 left in the fourth quarter.

Foles heated up after a poor first half, but the Eagles settled for field goals after two long drives in the second half.

Whtether they were hitting Matt Ryan, getting in Devonta Freeman's face or tipping passes meant for the Falcons many talented pass-catchers, stoud defense looked nearly looked routine for the first 57 minutes of the game, but with the Falcons at midfield, trailing by less than a touchdown a reviewed incomplete pass at midfield set up a momentous fourth-and-six for Atlanta. But Jones didn't come down with the ball. Perhaps that was because the Eagles, despite a 13-3 regular season record, limped into the playoffs with Foles under center. Since December 18, the Falcons travled to Tampa, then to New Orleans, back to Atlanta for a Week 17 game against the Panthers (a game they had to have to make the playoffs), then they went out to L.A.to play the Rams, back to Atlanta for a week of practice and now up to Philly...where it'll be 30-35 degrees outside. The running game by far exceeded all expectations.

Trailing by a point at halftime, the Eagles put together a pair long drives to wrestle the lead away from the Falcons. That decisive 21-yard kick capped an 80-yard, 14 play drive that took almost eight minutes off the clock. Pederson chose to go uptempo, and it paid off. Foles completed five straight pass attempts, including three straight to Jeffery that each went for a first down.

Julio Jones grabbed the Ryan toss for 20 yards, thwarting the defense's monentum. They also did a great job feeding Julio Jones, who finished with 99 yards and a TD.

The Philadelphia Eagles are not exactly getting the respect the number one seed in the National Football League playoffs usually gets. Alshon Jeffery was clutch for the Birds, finishing with four receptions on 61 yards. And when the Eagles' defense was on the field, they were as good as they needed to be, keeping the Falcons off the scoreboard the entire second half. The defense carried the Eagles, holding them to only one touchdown.

It looked as if the Eagles won the overall possession battle, but they only had the ball for a total of 32:06, compared to Atlanta's 27:54.

The Eagles are on to the NFC Championship, and if Foles continues to play like he did tonight, Philadelphia's Super Bowl dreams are still very much alive.
