According to the Mackinac Bridge Authority, the bridge WILL be closed unless weather conditions change.
Now (10:10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26) the Mackinac Bridge is closed to all traffic.
Now we are experiencing winds of sufficient force in the Straits area to require an escort of certain "high profile" vehicles across the Mackinac Bridge. During that time, motorists crossing the span were asked to reduce their speeds below 20 miles per hour and turn on their vehicle's four-way flashers.
The Mackinac Bridge Authority said Friday evening that there's no estimated time for the span's reopening.
