FCA is moving production of the next-generation Ram heavy-duty pickup truck in 2020 from Mexico to its Warren Truck Assembly Plant in MI where it will be built alongside the new Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. That feeling is so good that it says it will move some of its Ram truck production to MI from Mexico.

The Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant will be repurposed to produce future commercial vehicles for global distribution.

The investment means 2,500 more jobs by 2020 and a $2,000 bonus for the automakers' 60,000 hourly and salaried workers. The current Ram heavy duties are built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Mexico.

Warren Truck now builds the latest Ram 1500 pickup, although production of next year's truck will move to Sterling Heights Assembly Plant, which is also in MI.

Fiat Chrysler announced Thursday that it will up its investment in the United States and pay some of its employees special bonuses after the recent tax code overhaul.

Bonuses will be paid in the second quarter this year in addition to profit sharing and/or performance bonuses.

More than 700 new jobs will be added to support production, the company noted.

Fiat Chrysler said its plant investments remain contingent on the final approval of state and local incentives.
