Two national newspapers have threatened to launch a legal challenge if the Parole Board does not disclose its reasons for approving the release of black cab rapist John Worboys from prison.

A fresh allegation of sexual assault has been made against convicted rapist John Worboys, ITV News understands.

The claim, which dates back to 1997 - several years earlier than the date when it was thought Worboys' offending started - was reported to police this month.

DSD and NBV are to be legally represented by the Director of #The Centre for Woman's Justice Harriet Wistrich, who claimed the decision to release Worboys is "insulting and horrific for all the victims concerned".

Worboys, a former black cab driver, was jailed indefinitely in 2009 with a minimum term of eight years for drugging and sexually assaulting female passengers.

Worboys, now 60, was convicted of 19 offences against 12 victims, but has been linked to more than 100 complaints in total.

The justice secretary, David Gauke, promised MPs that the "most stringent licensing conditions" will be placed on Worboys when he is released from prison and said "the concerns of victims will be put at the heart of the process".

Tory MP Zac Goldsmith said he was "appalled" by The Sun's revelations yesterday that Worboys had already been secretly moved from HMP Wakefield to HMP Belmarsh, south-east London, ahead of his impending release.

"He has not served the sentence he was given and was not prosecuted for the vast majority of his crimes", he said.

After a hearing about his case in November, the Parole Board chose to approve his release with "stringent" licence conditions.

A source told Sky News it would be "completely untrue" to suggest Worboys will be released imminently.

Last week, Mr Gauke revealed the Government will not be seeking a judicial review of the decision to release Worboys. Two other victims - named as DSD and NBV - have been working together to bring their own case for judicial review on the decision, as well as both separately challenging how the Supreme Court deals with sexual assault cases under the Human Rights Act.

Fellow backbencher Anna Soubry said it defied belief that Worboys had been moved and the fact he was still being held in a maximum security Category A prison proved he wasn't fit for release.
