James Bettcher to meet with Giants about defensive coordinator job
Former Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio is also reportedly in the running for the Giants' defensive coordinator job. He replaced Todd Bowles, who went to coach the Jets. Bettcher met with the Giants in Mobile, Alabama on Tuesday afternoon, while he was in town for the Senior Bowl.
In three seasons as defensive coordinator for the Cardinals, his defensive unit was ranked at least seventh in total defense each year.
After the Minnesota Vikings were eliminated on Sunday, the Giants officially announced the hiring of Minnesota offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur as their new head coach.
Bettcher will also meet with the Tennessee Titans to discuss their defensive coordinator job under new head coach Mike Vrabel.

Shurmur was on Spagnuolo's staff when he was the head coach of the St. Louis Rams.
The Cardinals, which ran a 3-4 defense under Bettcher, allowed the sixth-fewest yards last season (4,975).
