Earlier this month Reuters reported that Google, Singapore state investor Temasek and others were planning to invest in Go-Jek as part of a Dollars $1.2 billion fundraising round, bolstering the Indonesian start-up in its battle with rivals Grab and Uber.
The latter three made up a $1.2bn tranche of final fund raising in Go-Jek that was launched in April past year. This announcement comes a month after its first direct investment in India, Dunzo, in December past year.
The move is part of Google's ambition to grow Indonesia's digital economy and start-up scene, the tech giant said in a statement Monday. In that context Google has already trained almost 60,000 Indonesians on mobile app development, toward its goal of reaching 100,000 developers by the year 2020.
Further, Google's Gapura Digital initiative has trained more than 40,000 small business owners in 10 cities to use the power of the internet, with more cities to come.

Go-Jek remains active in Indonesia only, but it has previously been public on plans to expand to other markets using its Go-Pay mobile payment service.
