The report further states that according to a source, explosions and heavy gunfire can be heard at the academy's gate.

Authorities have confirmed an attack on the Marshal Fahim military academy in the Afghan capital of Kabul, Tolo News TV channel reported.

The Marshal Fahim National Defense University came under attack early Monday morning, reports said.

The resident said additional smaller blasts could be heard at frequent intervals following the larger explosions.

Fifteen soldiers training at the military school were killed in October when a suicide bomber driving a auto filled with explosives rammed into a bus leaving the academy.
