Republic Day 2018: Government announces Padma awards
Tamil music composer Ilaiyaraaja and actor Manoj Joshi were among the 85 nominees felicitated with the Padma awards during the ceremony on Republic Day in New Delhi on Friday. Former Union minister Anbumani Ramadoss in a statement praised all the six as well as former cricket captain M S Dhoni, who have been selected for the Padma awards. The Great Music Legend Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan saheb, under whose worthy tutelage, I have had the good fortune to have found my voice, has been conferred with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award, just now.
The five time National Award-winner has been composing for largely Tamil, but also Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam films over four decades and over 1,000 films.
