The Catholic Church in Chile has yet to recover from the downward spiral that began with the so-called Karadima abuse case. "He has covered-up abuses and should be in jail or at least dismissed".
On Tuesday, Francis met with survivors of the church's sexual abuse scandal, weeping with them.
The U.S. -based non-governmental organization Bishop Accountability reported last week that almost 80 Catholic clergy members had been accused of sexually abusing Chilean children since 2000.
