Jemele Hill is Leaving SC6 for The Undefeated
Jemele Hill is leaving the 6 p.m. "SportsCenter" - aka "SC6" - to join ESPN's "The Undefeated", Sports Illustrated reported Friday.
The 6 p.m. edition of SportsCenter is about to go through a major change. The move comes in the wake of Hill's controversial tweets about President Trump and the National Anthem protests sweeping the NFL. According to Sports Illustrated media reporter Richard Deitsch, Hill requested to be reassigned to The Undefeated, a website that focuses on the intersection of sports, race, and culture. She will also take on additional assignments at 'The Worldwide Leader in Sports'. Jemele Hill is leaving SportsCenter. Whether that's the fault of Hill and Smith, the program's direction or anything else related to the change is hard to say, but the relaunch certainly didn't give the show a jolt, either. However, in September, Hill came under fire for calling Trump a "white supremacist", among other things, in a string of tweets, and it wasn't long before the president and his staffers began calling for Hill's termination from ESPN. Mike Greenberg's new morning show will debut April 2.
The SportsCenter host had been suspended two weeks for a second violation of the company's social media policy near the end of the fall. It appears now, that she'll stay with the company, albeit in a new role.
