On-loan Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek could miss the rest of the season and the summer's World Cup because of an ankle injury.
On-loan Chelsea player Loftus-Cheek was expected to be sidelined for a matter of weeks with an ankle problem but Hodgson admits the initial diagnosis was incorrect.
"The reason I said it could go higher than that is quite simply because we've lost two players until the end of the season, Jeffrey Schlupp is likely to be out for quite a while and we are uncertain at the moment as to how long Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be out".
Asked whether Loftus-Cheek was a doubt for the World Cup, which kicks off on June 14, Hodgson replied: "I don't know".
RLC failed to complete the next England game against Brazil due to injury but returned to playing for Crystal Palace.
The Chelsea loanee, who's having what is essentially his breakout season at Crystal Palace after all those years of being on the fringes of the Chelsea first-team but never really seeing any consistent playing time, has not played since Palace's 3-2 loss to Arsenal three weeks ago.

Palace have lifted themselves out of the mire since Hodgson's arrival at the club last September with last Saturday's [13 January] victory over Burnley seeing them rise into 12 in the Premier League - five points clear of the drop zone.
"There are not many Loftus-Cheeks out there at the moment at Premier League clubs who are ready to come out on loan".
