Man Causes Explosion in Electronics Store After Biting iPhone Battery

Over in China, it has been reported that a man bit into an iPhone battery at a second-hand electronics market. It's unclear if the customer was looking to exchange his battery due to Apple's slowdown of devices with degraded batteries. The battery explodes. You're probably thinking that this can't be real. He drops it quickly and stands shocked as others in the marketplace stop too. Amazingly, the man wasn't seriously hurt in the blast.

That's because damaging a battery can cause it to short circuit and spark a buildup of heat, according to Battery University, a go-to resource on how lithium-ion cells work.

He's recommending the state Board of Education move to recoup that money, too. OH already started recouping $60 million from the 2015-16 school year.

Lithium-ion batteries are, of course, known for not being the most stable things around. Higher-quality batteries are not somehow more bite-resistant. If you don't plan on replacing the device, you can fix the iPhone with a simple battery replacement. This can not become the next Tide Pod challenge.

This unlucky customer was reportedly shopping for a new replacement battery for his iPhone at an electronics store in China last Friday when - in the midst of his careful product deliberations - he chose to bite one of the batteries he was considering purchasing. "The battery is not gold, why are you biting it?" one Chinese commenter chided online.
