Each of the seven finalists has been invited to the Lombardi Honors presentation that will include several other awards being recognized, including the Lombardi Coach of the Year.
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield, Louisville signal-caller Lamar Jackson and running back Bryce Love of Stanford are the finalists for the Lombardi Award, which will be presented Saturday. It was previously given to the best defensive lineman or linebacker in college football.
But now it's a national honor. The award is given to the nation's top player based on performance as well as leadership, character and resiliency.
The Lombardi Award victor will be announced Saturday at the Lombardi Honors presentation at Lone Star College in Houston. It will be aired live on ESPN3.
