The White House did not invite reporters to cover the excursion, with the first lady's spokeswoman publicizing the visit - in advance of Saturday's International Holocaust Remembrance Day - with a tweet.

The Wall Street Journal first reported the Daniels story on January 12, just a couple of hours before the first lady flew to Mar-a-Lago with her husband, where she was not seen by the press pool the entire long weekend.

Melania Trump is not attending Davos, Switzerland, with her husband this week.
The new decision was made based on "scheduling and logistical issues", according to the White House official. Accompanied by Director Sara Bloomfield, Mrs. Trump visited exhibits that recounted the rise of the Nazi Party in Germany, its policies toward Jewish people and the liberation of concentration camps in 1945.
