But there's one message in particular that has caught the attention of some lawmakers.
Labeling law enforcement officials who have voiced disapproval of Donald Trump as "biased" is an inherently dishonest exercise, because doing so assumes without evidence that it is impossible for civil servants to do their jobs without being motivated by a political agenda.

Lawmakers raised questions after learning in a letter dated January 19 that a misconfiguration of software upgrades on FBI-issued cellphones meant that messages between employees Peter Strzok and Lisa Page did not get captured for five months, between December 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017. A Justice Department official has said that the Federal Bureau of Investigation failed to save text messages sent from thousands of cellphones, including Page's and Strzok's. One of the texts spoke about an "insurance policy" against Trump during his presidential campaign.
In another text released Thursday, Page wrote on October 28, 2016, that then-FBI Chief of Staff Jim Rybicki believed "very clearly 100%" that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe "should be recused because of the 'perception, '" - presumably referencing the Clinton investigation. "It's possible these these messages that were missing, perhaps it is a unusual coincidence".

"We will provide copies of the text messages that we recover from these devices to the department so that the department's leadership can take any management action it deems appropriate", he said.
After news of those texts surfaced, the White House denounced the FBI's "extreme bias".
"We hope to turn over additional text messages to Congress once the inspector general recovers them", Flores told Faulkner.
While politicians debate whether to release the content of the text messages, technology analysts question how five months of emails could have disappeared.
"More information is needed before we can say whether or not this was an act of sloppy data handling or something that was intentionally done to get rid of data so it couldn't be found later", he said.
