MLAs row: AAP targets newly-appointed CEC

AAP did not ask Election Commission for hearings in office-of-profit case says OP Rawat

Following the disqualification of 20 of its MLAs for holding office of profit, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has now targeted the newly appointed Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), OP Rawat, for allegedly being complicit in the "office of profit case", thus raising serious doubt on his integrity.

Those notices were issued to AAP MLAs on September 28 and November 2 past year.

Om Prakash Rawat was hearing all AAP-related matters and this issue was raised by the party legislators in their responses to the notices. That eventually led to their disqualification.

"The Election Commission is working like a khap panchayat and giving a verdict without hearing (the other side)", Chadha said.

Raghav said the Rawat had earlier recused himself from the case citing his "proximity" to BJP leadership.

Nunes memo permitted to be disseminated
The memo has become a conservative rallying cry, with Republicans on Capitol Hill demanding that the documents be released. A White House official confirmed the phone call but told The Post that Trump did not endorse the plan to release the memo.

Congress leader A Revanth Reddy on Tuesday wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind and the Chief Election Commissioner seeking disqualification of six MLAs from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

"It was first time in the history of India that a judge who had recused himself sneaked back through back door".

The plea by the MLAs has also sought stay and quashing of the government's notification stating the President had held that the 20 MLAs stand disqualified under the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) Act. "How is it that he signed on the recommendation", asked Chadha. On the top of that the President's assent on EC's recommendation came as a bolt in the blue for the AAP after the affected MLAs had petitioned Delhi High Court for justice.

"Former CEC AK Joti", Singh alleged, "took this decision at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi".

"We have full faith in judiciary and are very sure that we will get justice in the court", Sisodia told reporters today. "We expect relief from the Court", he added.
