Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Arsenal have second bid for striker rejected

German outlet Kicker report that Borussia Dormund are becoming increasingly frustrated as the club rejected a £45m (AU$79m) bid for Aubameyang.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger did not sound optimistic of a deal being made soon when he was recently asked about signing Aubameyang in the coming weeks.

"If something it happens, it happens", Wenger, according to the BBC, said regarding the Aubameyang deal.

It's possible that Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud may go the other way to Dortmund to ensure the German club have a short term fix to their striker solution, despite the contrasting styles between him and Aubameyang. "At the moment, we are open to strengthening the team but we are not close to signing anybody".

Aubameyang was in action for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday but failed to score and was widely booed by supporters.

"Whatever the outcome of this matter, everyone would agree that whatever brings clarity will help the team".

"Anything can happen in the next few days", a source close to Giroud explained to Goal.

With Dortmund already planning for life with the France worldwide, the publication adds Arsenal are doing likewise regarding Aubameyang, suggesting Wenger plans to include the 28-year-old in his side when the Gunners travel to Swansea on 30 January - the day before the winter transfer window closes. "And that makes for a lot of consequences".
