Ranveer Singh is immensely happy with the kind of appreciation he is getting for his villainous act in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmaavat".

Trade analyst Komal Nahta found the figures to be "stupendous considering that the film has not opened in 35 per cent of India". The film was a little behind the opening day business of "Baahubali 2" but that film included three language variations, with the Telugu version receiving the most business. Had it been a smooth release [some states are not screening the film], the all-India biz would've touched ₹ 40 cr.

While previously, several movies became victims to online piracy and got leaked on the Internet even before their theatrical release, this kind of incident was never before heard of.

The Rs 150 crore film was released in 4,000 screens across the country with one million watching it on the first day, maker of the film Viacom 18 said in a statement. Padmaavat has received positive reviews from the audience and critics which reflects on its box office collections.

Padmaavat is pacing ahead well to step into the 100 Crore Club in quick time.

Padmaavat has been received well in worldwide markets as well.

The film had a great start in worldwide markets as the Ranveer-Deepika starrer raked in good numbers in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

Many of those who watched Padmaavat condemned the violence of the last few weeks and said there is nothing objectionable in the film. "That is in a way the best response we can give, through the work that we do", said Deepika. "From Saturday onwards, our protest will be on in full swing", Kalvi said.

Gurugram police has formed a SIT under the supervision of DCP South Ashok Bakshi to probe the attack on school bus case during the protest against the release of Padmaavat movie.
