Florida officers wrangle 12.5-foot python

When he arrived on the scene near Johnson Street and US 27, Officer Joey Cabrera found a 12-and-a-half foot long Burmese python.

After getting control of the moving animal, officers brought it back to the Pembroke Pines police department.

He then took the snake to police headquarters, where a licensed python remover took the snake away.

Officer Cabrera jumped into action and wrangled the snake.

The Pembroke Pines Police Department tweeted out a photo showing several officers including Cabrera holding the snake Friday.

This is not Cabrera's first encounter with a large python in Pembroke Pines. If anyone sees another snake like this python sauntering around their neighborhoods they should call 911. In April, he responded to a call after a group of local teens caught a 13-foot python.
