A Modern Coast bus, which was ferrying Nasa supporters, is held at Voi Police Station on January 30, 2018.

Nasa supporters on Tuesday began trooping into Uhuru Park as early as 5am ahead of leader Raila Odinga's planned swearing-in.

He says they are also holding 82 passengers who were traveling in the buses.

According to Chesire, the buses were impounded at about midnight by police during a routine check.

Though the police had said they would prohibit any illegal assemblies on Tuesday, there were no uniformed police in the park and no anti-riot officers or vehicles.

The buses were among six that left Mombasa for Nairobi ferrying the supporters to attend the swearing-in of Nasa leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka.
