Reba McEntire Dons Colonel Sanders Drag for New KFC Campaign

Country music fans will instantly recognize the voice of the first woman to play KFC's Colonel Sanders, but for others, it could take several seconds before figuring out who's in the sparkly white suit.
"We picked Reba McEntire because she is a ideal fit for KFC and Smoky Mountain BBQ".
"We've always maintained that anyone, male or female, who embodies the spirit of the colonel is qualified to play the iconic role", the representative tells Newsweek.
Rocking the Colonel's signature facial hair, the 62-year-old Grammy victor puts her own fringed and sparkly spin on his iconic white suit, giving the look "a little bit of the country music flair", she tells the Associated Press. She may also be the first woman in KFC's almost 90-year-history to depict the Colonel. "It's part of my story, and I'm so excited to now be part of theirs".
McEntire was approached about doing so in December.

KFC said it picked McEntire because of her Southern roots, and to help promote its new Smoky Mountain BBQ, which combines fried chicken with a taste of barbeque.
KFC isn't the only brand McEntire works with.
The company unveiled a commercial Thursday which poked fun at that fact, having McEntire sing lyrics asking the audience to ignore the Colonel's resemblance to a famous country singer and stating that he is "definitely not a woman".
Col. Harland Sanders, who died 36 years ago, first started selling fried chicken from a single restaurant in 1930.
KFC tweeted the commercial, saying, "Nothing to see here, folks".
