If you thought that the "Ice bucket challenge", "Mannequin challenge" and the "Invisible Box challenge" were way out off rails, take a moment to discover the brand-new craze that has inundated social media.

Look, we'll say this right off the bat - Tide Pods and other such detergent products look bloody delicious.

Back in 2015, the Onion published a joking article from the perspective of a child wondering what it would be like to eat the highly enticing red and blue-colored detergent, looking like sweets. The "Tide Pod Challenge" is a real thing that, when described, sounds like a fake thing. In an effort to stop this challenge and people from hurting themselves, New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski partnered with Tide to do a video on the dangers of this craze.

So the company released a public service announcement video on Twitter Friday, helpfully noting, "What should Tide PODs be used for?"

Following the craze, Tide issued a statement: "Our laundry packs are a highly concentrated detergent meant to clean clothes ..." They should be only used to clean clothes and kept up, closed and away from children.

Even if people aren't really eating Tide Pods on objective, Tide knows that some day, this meme-turned-DIY-recipe of a laundry pod could become somewhat of a PR nightmare should a bunch of tweens decide that, hey, they really want to show how cool they are by seeing who can eat the most Tide Pods.

Following the Tide Pod Challenge, memes have popped up all over social media where Tide Pods are depicted as food inside bowls, plates and frying pans.

Here's to hoping kids will actually listen to their role models in 2018, or that at least this trend dies down quickly.
