Facebook Russian bots
50,000 automated Russian-linked Twitter accounts retweeted posts by US President Donald Trump nearly half a million times in the weeks leading to the 2016 presidential election. In all, the company says that around 2.12 million automated, election-related tweets - receiving around 455 million impressions - originated from Russian-linked accounts.
The accounts retweeted then-candidate Donald Trump 10 times more than they retweeted his rival Hillary Clinton, according to Twitter's written statement to the committee.
In total 2.1million tweets were sent by the bots, and those were just one percent of the election-related tweets on Twitter at the time, the company said.
The documents shared by Twitter have been made public by the Senate Judiciary Committee, and they show the how Russian Federation used social media to attempt to interfere in the outcome of the election.
Twitter, Google and Facebook each testified in front of Congress at the end of 2017 - giving data on Kremlin-linked efforts to use social media to influence the 2016 election.

The company also examined how the bots helped amplify content from what it described as "Russian-linked accounts" including @Wikileaks.
Automated Twitter accounts that retweet or tweet the same thing en masse can create talking points that appear to have more support than they actually do. When the hashtag #PodestaEmails was launched after Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta's emails were hacked, the Russian bots were responsible for a stunning 5 percent of all the tweets on the hashtag, according to data provided by Twitter. Tweets from @HillaryClinton received approximately 19.2 million likes during this period; 119,730 - or 0.62 percent - were from Russian-linked automated accounts.
'We identified 50,258 accounts that generated automated, election-related content and had at least one of the characteristics we used to associate an account with Russian Federation.
These 50,000 accounts are in addition to 3,814 accounts operated by the Internet Research Agency, a Russian government-linked troll group.
