With demands for action after Karni Sena members stoned a schoolbus with small children inside, the Gurugram police have detained Karni Sena leader Thakur Kushalpal in connection with incidents of violence across the city. "The remaining miscreants will soon be arrested", Gurugram police Public Relation Officer (PRO) Ravinder Kumar told ANI.
"A total of 42 accused have been arrested so far by Gurgaon Police in connection with the agitation against the film", Kumar added. "This team will make all-out efforts to collect scientific evidence and identify the remaining hooligans", Kumar said.
Meanwhile, a message had gone viral on social media that five Muslim youths had been detained for the attack on the schoolbus. In the incident in Bhondsi, a Haryana Roadways bus had been torched by protesters, who then pelted stones at a school bus that was passing through the area - despite students and teachers being seated inside.
The others, all residents of Rajput-dominated Bhondsi, were sent to judicial custody and booked for rioting, attempt to murder and various other sections of the IPC.
Led by Lokendra Singh Kalvi, the Rajput Karni Sena alleges that history had been distorted by the makers of the period drama.
