Blue Moon to appear over Qatar sky on January 31

Not one, but four separate lunar events will take place that night for the first time in 150 years.

On Jan. 31, you will be able to spot a "Super Blue Blood Moon" (try saying that three times fast) as a supermoon, blue moon, and total lunar eclipse all become visible at exactly the same time. The moon's orbit around the Earth is elliptical.

The Hunter's Moon is the full moon following the Harvest Moon; which means that it is usually in October, except for when the Harvest Moon occurs in October - then, the Hunter's Moon happens in November.

NASA says after this, the "super blue blood moon" won't happen again until December 2047. However, halfway through the cycle, the full moon will be close to apogee, and the new moons immediately before and after can be supermoons. And while some tired journalists will kvetch about the hype "it's just a full moon, for heaven's sake" I think it's great. To top things off, the blue moon will also technically be a supermoon because it'll orbit closer to Earth than usual, causing it to shine about 14 percent brighter than usual, according to Space.com.

The black sheep of the moon family, a black moon may not be that much to look at, since it's the second new moon within a month - and since we can't see new moons, well we'll just have to appreciate that it's there.
