In a televised news conference in Nairobi, Kenyatta, who is serving his second and final term in office following last year's re-election, retained 13 cabinet secretaries.

The creation of the position of Chief Administrative Secretary has seen the entry of politicians who flopped in the August general elections into government.

The beneficiaries of the newly created post include Former Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba who will the CAS Foreign Affairs, former Nairobi Woman Rep Rachael Shebesh who will be the CAS Public Service, Youth and Gender.

"Chief Administrative Secretary will broadly be responsible for helping CS to coordinate running of affairs in respective ministries", Uhuru spoke was he released the full list.

Former Foreign Affairs and International Trade CS Amina Mohammed has been deployed to the Ministry of Education replacing Dr. Fred Matiang'i who takes up Interior Security. Simon Chelugui, Gideon Moi's biggest challenger in the Baringo Senatorial seat will be the CS for water while little known Rashida Achesa has been appointed CS for Sports.
