The United Arab Emirates' military forces have been instructed not to escalate an ongoing diplomatic crisis with neighbouring Qatar, an Emirati military official has said.
"The UAE, along with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt, have imposed travel, diplomatic and trade sanctions on Qatar since last June, accusing the Gulf neighbour of fanning terrorism in the region". Doha denies the charges.
UAE military aircraft would also fly alternative routes over Saudi Arabia to avoid the possibility of interception by Qatari warplanes, al-Qubaisi added.
Anwar Gargash, the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs responded to the anger, saying it was a, "small mishap", and said people were, "looking to create unnecessary controversy", Al Jazeera.
