UFC on FOX 27 results Drew Dober tops Frank Camacho in slugfest with an odd scorecard
DESPITE loss to Drew Dober, Frank "The Crank" Camacho was deemed a victor by MMA fans not only here on island but the bigger crowd around the arena. Camacho and Dober took turns pressuring each other, but Dober landed better and showed better movement with about two minutes left in the round.
As you might expect, main event star Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza's impressive head kick in the first-round against Derek Brunson that set a KO finish into motion ensured that he won himself a "Performance Of The Night" bonus into the bargain. Both fighters got in good hits to the head and body but it was Camacho that got the last hit connecting a shot at Dober forcing him down, although it was not sure whether it was counted before the bell rung. Dober worked his way back up and the striking resumed.
Many fans had anticipated this battle to be a contender for "Fight of the Night" considering that Camacho had received the award in each of his two fights with the organization, and the two didn't let the fans in Charlotte down. Dober aimed for the quick jabs to keep the points coming and mixed a few kicks along the way while Camacho looked for the heavy hitters. Dober failed all six of his takedown attempts in this bout because Camacho would immediately dig underhooks as he shot in for a takedown. Dober was able to get back to his feet quickly. Camacho swept his opponent and wound up in side control. Camacho looked exhausted but stood his ground returning punches to keep Dober at a safe distance. A minute in, he tried again, but it was Camacho who turend things around and landed the takedown and got on top in half-guard. Camacho defended, got his back off the fence then tripped Dober.

Camacho isn't backing down, however, and is fighting back with big hits of his own. He landed numerous short shots as Dober went for a takedown. Dober is cut above one of his eyebrows.
After Dober found his way back up, he continued to push forward with combinations pushing Camacho against the cage. Dober lands a big straight as the final horn sounds.
