The explosion happened just before 1pm on Saturday when an explosive laden ambulance was detonated in a busy area, which is close to Kabul's infamous Chicken Street.

At least 95 people have been killed and another 158 were injured after a suicide bombing in the Afghan capital Kabul.

He then detonated his explosives at a second check point, said Nasrat Rahimi, deputy spokesperson for the Interior Ministry.

On January 20, more than 20 people, including 14 foreigners, were killed and a dozen of others injured after the Taleban attacked a luxury hotel in Kabul.

It comes a week after gunmen attacked the Intercontinental Hotel in Kabul, killing at least 22 people during a 12-hour standoff with Afghan security forces.

"This murderous attack renews our resolve and that (of) our Afghan partners", Trump said in a statement. "The Taliban's cruelty will not prevail", Trump said.

Both the Afghan government and the U.S. administration have been calling, some in a warning tone, upon Taliban militants to give up fighting and join the peace process to find a negotiated settlement to the country's lingering crisis.
