Cow among wild bison Poland January 2018
A cow escaped her farm in Poland in November and is living her new life.
Biologist Rafal Kowalczyk said he spotted the Limousin cow, a French breed popular in Poland, this week with a 50-strong bison herd in the Bialowieza Forest, three months after the smaller bovine ran away from a farm and was first spotted socializing with the wild animals. It was a completely different light-brown shade from the rest of the herd.
The reddish brown cow visually stands out among the larger dark brown animals.

Although cows, like bison, are natural herd animals biologists have said the relationship between the cow and her new friends is unusual.
While cohabitation seems to be working so far, it could be risky for both species, according to Kowalczyk, the director of Mammal Research Institute at the Polish Academy of Sciences.
"One question is whether when winter ends the cow will follow the bison into the forest, which is not the habitat that this cow knows", Kowalczyk told the AP. But the presence of the herd could have kept her safe from wolves throughout the winter. The offspring could also contaminate the endangered bison population with hybrids, so the cow will probably need to be recaptured.
