Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman & CEO, announced Thursday afternoon the XFL will kick off (again) in 2020.
McMahon had given, his own profession football league, the XFL an attempt in 2001 and it was unsuccessful. It's interesting to note that McMahon has also stated that any player with a criminal background will not be allowed to enter his league, even down to a DUI.
For those who don't remember, or weren't aware, the XFL was a short-lived "Extreme" American football league, between 2001 and 2002, created by Vince McMahon.
"The new XFL is an exciting opportunity to reimagine America's favorite sport", McMahon said in the release. He hinted that the rules would be simpler, the game faster and that it will "be more of the things you want to see and less of what you don't".

McMahon said the cities for the eight teams would be determined later.
When pressed on who would be broadcasting the games, McMahon said that a TV deal had yet to be struck, but cited "strong interest" from unnamed parties.
A close friend of President Trump, McMahon insisted the league will have nothing to do with politics and remain impartial on social issues, before implying that XFL players will be contractually obliged to stand for the national anthem before games.
Ultimately, the right combination could be a running clock, until the final five or two minutes of the half, coupled with a shortened play clock that essentially forces teams to run a two-minute drill for the full 60 minutes of clock time. Indeed, the circus rolls on.
