Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 Review display design performance

Xiaomi might reserve the latest and greatest chipset for the proper successor of the Mi Mix 2 - the Mi Mix 3 which is still expected to be launched later this year.

A credible account of That Rock, which is shared on social networking site Weibo, said Xiaomi could launch Mi MIX 2S before the MWC 2018 event in Barcelona in late February. While the tipster didn't reveal much information of the device, GizmoChina reports that the tipster asked the readers to guess which of the devices will be the first to feature Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 845 mobile chipset.

Without a doubt, the upcoming Xiaomi flagship - Mi 7- will be the first Xiaomi smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC when it is made official at MWC.

According to Slashleaks, the Mi Mix 2S could come with almost 100 per cent bezel-less display. The existing Mi Mix 2 was launched in October in India and costs Rs 32,999 in the market. Xiaomi has confirmed that Mi 7 will come with a wireless charging option.

Xiaomi is expected to announce an upgraded version of the Mi Mix 2, said to be called the Mi Mix 2S. Then a second render popped online via Slashleaks suggesting the smartphone will be truly bezel-less and the display will account for nearly 100 percent of the front of the device. The image shows an entirely different device from the Mi 6. In order to achieve the form-factor, Xiaomi is reportedly going to make some changes such as moving the front camera from the bottom to top right corner, which seems like a modified version of the notch on iPhone X.

As a result of the front camera placement, the bottom bezel looks narrower.

Xiaomi's original Mi MIX featured a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio while the second-generation Mi MIX 2 had a relatively lesser 82.63% screen-to-body ratio. The rear of the handset might remain the same, featuring a fingerprint scanner, along with a single camera, retaining the ceramic back on the phone. The design, though not ideal, seems to take the bezel-less design to next level but readers must know that this is not confirmed just yet.
