The San Francisco 49ers were likely going to make some offseason moves to address their offensive line. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the team has added another significant piece to the mix with the expected addition of former New York Giants offensive lineman Weston Richburg on a five-year deal.
Richburg, 26, is a 2014 second-round pick from Colorado State who played in 47 of 48 games (46 starts) in his first three seasons.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said last week that he full expects Daniel Kilgore, who the team signed to a three-year contract extension this offseason, to be the team's starting center, meaning that Richburg will likely take the place of G Brandon Fusco, who himself is a free agent this offseason. Additionally, he missed only one game his first three seasons.
Richburg was recently cleared to return to football activities after an injury-riddled 2017 campaign that was cut short when he was placed on injured reserve after suffering a concussion in Week 4 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
