Their family died in a crash on the Mendocino County coast but 3 children are still missing
Clark County sheriff's Sgt. Brent Waddell told The Associated Press that the family lived in Woodland, Washington, and recently had a visit from Child Protective Services.
The two women were found still inside the SUV and the three children outside the vehicle. The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office is conducting the Coroner's Investigation, on going search and rescue operations, and the investigation related to the three children who are unaccounted for. At this time it is unknown if the missing children accompanied their parents on the trip to Mendocino County or if they might be staying with friends. "Several of the questions that have been asked today will never be answered".
"If your vehicle was in park or in neutral, I would say it would not roll in either direction", he said, adding also that investigators have "no evidence or reason to believe it was an intentional act". But well before the wreck, Sarah Hart pleaded guilty in 2011 to a domestic assault charge in Douglas County, Minnesota, telling authorities "she let her anger get out of control" while spanking her 6-year-old adoptive daughter, court records show. Also unaccounted for are two of his siblings, Sierra Hart, 12; and Hannah Hart, 16, all of Woodland, Washington.
"They kind of closed off for a while, honestly", Lomax told the newspaper. The agency had no prior history with the family, said Norah West, a spokeswoman with the Department of Social and Health Services.
Those bodies were identified as the children's parents, Jennifer and Sarah Hart, both 38, and three of their six adopted children: Markis, 19, and 14-year-olds Jeremiah and Abigail.

Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman said Wednesday afternoon that authorities believe all eight members of the Hart family died when their SUV went off a cliff on a "very rugged" section of the Mendocino Coast earlier this week. The neighbors also said one of the girls came to their door previous year saying she needed protection and was being abused.
"We have no idea why the vehicle went off the cliff", said Allman, explaining that there were no skidmarks or other signs indicating the vehicle's behavior before it went off the cliff. "She said that they were abusing her". "We know that an entire family vanished and perished during this tragedy".
Allmon says a passer-by called 911 about the crash, but investigators don't know exactly when the SUV plunged into the ocean. Allman appealed to anyone who might have seen the family to come forward.
The cause of this accident is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Ukiah Office.
Family friend Max Ribner took issue with the notion it was something other than a tragic accident.
