5 victims to testify in upcoming Bill Cosby trial
A judge has agreed to let five additional accusers of Bill Cosby testify at his sexual assault retrial, scheduled to begin next month.
Cosby's lawyers fought the move in court earlier this month.
The decision by Judge Steven O'Neill is likely to have a major influence on the second trial of Cosby, 80, who is accused of attacking Andrea Constand, now 44, at his home near Philadelphia between December 30, 2003, and January 20, 2004.
Legal insiders believe the key to the prosecution's case against Cosby is the admissibility of evidence involving alleged accusers who came forward after Constand's allegations came to light. That trial ended in a hung jury. O'Neill is allowing the prosecution to choose who will testify.

The judge added that according to state law, the trial court "would have the authority to dictate how many cumulative witnesses may testify, but it can not dictate which of those witnesses the commonwealth may call to prove its case".
Now, prosecutors hope that five other accounts will help them convince jurors that the alleged assault on Ms. Constand, which Mr. Cosby denies, was part of a pattern of sexual misconduct that stretched over four decades.
The retrial is now scheduled to begin April 2, but Cosby's lawyers have said they would seek to delay proceedings if the judge allowed other accusers the chance to testify. At a hearing last week, Cosby's lawyers asked O'Neill to block the testimony. The jury selection process, meanwhile, begins on March 29.
